Consulting vs. Banking

How many of you wish you had done consulting? Seems like a more well rounded experience that would can be applied to more fields. And you don't have to stare at a computer all day.

I am neither. I have been researching both and from what I understand consulting does seem like a "more well rounded experience." However I have heard the travel is intense.

I have heard though, unless you're a total superstar and your superiors will attest to that, it's very hard to prove/show what skills you've acquired at that job. Plus, depending on your assignments you may not get any really good stuff that'll help you get to where you want to go next. My consulting friends email/call me quite a bit asking me questions about finance/valuations etc. At least with banking you're coming out with a very solid and specific skill set.
