Skipping 1st year PE recruiting
I'm a first year analyst at a solid MM tech group that is very interested in private equity, but due to personal constraints (military-related) I'm missing part of my first year. With the process being moved up so much I feel like recruiting as a first year doesn't make sense since I'll have even less experience to go off of than the average first year and I really haven't had much of an opportunity to give IB a chance (not that I'm looking to be a lifer or anything). Can anyone speak to the pro's/con's of recruiting off-cycle and/or waiting until my second year to recruit on-cycle?
I recognize this may be a somewhat unique situation. Thanks in advance.
Wait a year, and evaluate stuff opportunistically off cycle. You're thinking about it the right way.
Appreciate the feedback.
you should still touch base with recruiters and let them know if your situation and just stay in touch for year 2. most people won't receive PE offers until 2nd year anyways
Thanks - will do.
