Received my PWP rejection email!

:

Thank you very much for applying to the Corporate Advisory Internship Programme - July 2021 opportunity.

After review, unfortunately we will not be proceeding with your application at this time.

To summarize, I:

  • Wrote a fucking essay about what I would like to achieve as an intern at Perella Weinberg Partners
  • Wrote a fucking essay to explain what title I would give to the autobiography of my life
  • Wrote a fucking essay about the alternatives to M&A for a company
  • Wrote a fucking essay about a PWP deal while trying to sound genuinely thrilled
  • Wrote a fucking essay about which question I would like to ask Dietrich Becker if given the opportunity, as if I gave a fuck about that guy

:

We sincerely appreciate your time and interest in Perella Weinberg Partners and wish you the best for the future.

Yeah fuck you

Recruiters don't know shit about finance, 100% this was CV-based.

Controversial

Im at a top target and apparently All of Oxbridge/LSE finance societies are considering banning PWP from their campuses after this years antics.

What has happened to be thinking about it?

Doesnt sound realistic that it would happen tho

The Dartmouth Partners PWP team once interviewed me on the train. I tried to reschedule, but the interviewer told me that my chance to interview was "now or never". So I had to do a full 15min behavioural interview on a packed rush hour overground train.

This needs to be flagged actually. They have been consistently unprofessional.

One of them drunk dialled a former colleague’s friend whom they had interviewed earlier in the day.....

Looking at the list of employees at PWP in London (approx 100 people, source: Linkedin) one can notice interesting patterns:

  • The office is dominated by Germans, a surprisingly large representation
  • Weak diversity, Germans, French and Britons make up the dominant majority in the office
  • Only one (1) central/eastern European guy in the office with 100 employees ?!!!
  • Looking at other banks in the city, very poor representation of Italians at PWP

Genuinely curious to see what might happen if someone were to create a burner email account and email the (in-house) HR saying they would like to withdraw their application due to DP’s unprofessional attitude. Maybe link this thread or one of the other ones on WSO about DP in the email.

Copying Madame M from DP lol.

I went through the same shit last year. The worst thing is that you spent 2 or 3 hours working your arse off to impress and prove that you are really interested, and then they don’t even read it.

Asking for essays and cover letters is the most dumbest and most annoying thing banks can do. Usually analysts spend between 3 and 8 seconds on a CV, how the hell are the supposed to read a cover letter?

Having said that, Dartmouth Parters are the absolutely worse in London recruiting. Unless you already have a top brand name on your CV, you are wasting your time.

If you had to go through that much shit just for the rejection, I'm sure you would be too. Just seems like a ridiculous, over-the-top process for applicants. There are easier ways to weed people out before the interview.

Well, actually I got through the whole process last year (internship) and this year (full time). Dropped out towards the end as I both times got another offer in the meantime. Still, those questions take like 15 minutes to answer, first round interview is usually 5 minutes, second round 45-60 minutes. As most people argue about step 1 and 2, there are dozens of other programs around with processes that are a) more time consuming and b) way more annoying.

This type of shit pisses me off. When firms think that they're so special that they demand 3-5 hours from each applicant's time.

It's always the mid-tier firms with a chip on their shoulder

I applied to the London/Paris office off-cycle internship for January 2021. Just got a rejection for "(Paris)" - when I emailed to ask about London, they told me that there was a never a London opening. I then replied with a screenshot of the original job ad which showed London, and they give a non-answer and say apologies for the confusion. Avoid Dartmouth.

i heard its a sweatshop anyways... specially the restructuring team... analysts are requested to pitch 2 new names per week on top of live deals. Friday 6pm staffings are the norm...

What do you mean "Friday 6 pm staffing"... as in you have to work all weekend? There are no protected days??

Just copy paste google crap man, nobody reads that shit. I got the AC LOL
