You can also jump on the subway to 14th - Union Square!

I have to ask, who was the girl (or lady) in the red dress manning the computer up front?

Here to learn and hopefully pass on some knowledge as well. SB if I helped.

Guerillagrrl, you read my mind on the Subway. Expanding on the advice, I would say catch the subway from Herald Square (33rd and 6th) which is literally a block away from the Hotel Pennsylvania. Take the NRQ from Herald Square to Union Square. I forget whether the NRQ runs express during the weekend, but you're talking waiting 10-15 minutes for a subway at that hour and another 5 minutes to get to Union Square and it's just a 3-5 minute walk from Union Square.

Andy, nice choice with Sidebar.

Or you can take the 1/2/3 (Red lines) to 14th St. Their stops are literally right outside Hotel Penn and the red lines come much more frequently than the NQR. From 14th St stop it is about 5 minutes walk to the Side Bar.

I agree that Side Bar is a good choice. It would be a good idea to hold the regular WSO meetups there as well. Hope you guys have fun there. I would love to join you if I were not out of town.

I'll go dine at the Lotos Club right after the conference. I'm allowed to bring 11 guests.

From there, we'll head to the party at around 8pm.

If anyone's interested, hit me up =)

It still doesn't preclude you from tipping everywhere that's a public establishment though.

Thought it was a private one because as a reciprocal of my club, we will send them a letter of introduction (introducing me).

Either way, there are no tips.

Probably the main reason you wanted to be a member in the first place. Gotta balance that economic value scale right?

So... It's 3:45 in the morning and the WSO Conference has come to an end. At this hour, I doubt anyone is still at Sidebar but if anyone is, more power to you. When I left at about 1, Ant, Andy, UFO, DrPeterVenkman and a few others where still there. I'm not going to do a huge write up of the minute by minute blows, but I wanted to share some random observations. This is more a bunch of musings, but they are interesting none the less.

First off, a huge thanks to Patrick and Co. for the WSO Conference - it was fantastic. Congratulations and if you didn't go, I hope you all sign up to go next year. It's definitely worth it.

That said, lets get to some stray observations from the bar. I showed up at about 7:30 with InTheFlesh and IlliniProgrammer. We grabbed some food beforehand just to prep for the night of drinking. If you haven't checked it out and aren't from NYU because apparently it's a local spot for students, I recommend stopping at Vanessa's Dumplings at 14th and 3rd for a cheap meal. It wasn't bad and definitely worth the cheap eats. When we got there it was already in full swing.

It was fantastic to see and meet a lot of the old posters. There were guys at the Conference who I remember being around when I was here. They know who they are since I don't want to give out some top secret info here. Don't get me wrong, I'm old at having been posting here for the last 4 and a half years, but there were a few guys who were at the conference that have been around for as long as me, if not longer and it was great to connect with them on a personal level despite knowing them for so long. I met a few early on and a lot of my time was spent chatting with these guys. There are one or two who stand out in my mind, but I won't give them any major shout outs. At the same time, it was great to see a few longtime users that have been a little less active recently, namely Gekko21, come out for the event. It was a hell of a time catching up. Likewise, I do need to throw out some shouts to IlliniProgramer, who is always fun to chill with, InTheFlesh, UFOInsider and Yuriy A. It was great seeing you guys. Same holds true to some new friends, Chicandtoughness, M Friedman, DrPeterVenkman and others. It was great to meet you all. There were others who I met, but never got a user name for, and guys who I know but I can't remember your username for shit, so I'd throw a shout out you all as well.

I do have an In Memorium section for the guys who couldn't make it... Namely Flake, ShortTheWorld, Eddie and Midas. You were all sorely missed. Especially you Flake - there were no Bear Fights to be had without you. Short, you should have come up from Duke for the weekend. Why you missed this is beyond me. You would have had a lot of fun. That said, if Eddie, Midas and I somehow all end up at a bar together, I don't think anyone's liver is going to survive the night and one of us might end up behind bars or with a few citations written up for us.

I got to meet Chuckles - and just like every other poster I've met in real life, he's cool as shit. All I can say about Chuckles is when I found out where he's from, I remembered the reason why I dislike two huge cities... Stillers fans to the left of me, Iggles fans to the right, here I am stuck bleeding BLUE AND WHITE. Fucking PA Sports teams...

I overheard Andy talking with an unnamed WSO Staffer about some crazy idea they had in the vein of NSFW. Again, that's a shout out to Eddie and Midas, but they had an idea which could flesh out into something awesome. I wish I could reveal more, but if I did, I'd be hunted down by Ninja Monkeys for revealing it.

Rumor was Swagon showed up. If that is true, I clearly don't know because Patrick, Andy and the rest of the Mods must have thrown him out before he made his presence known. If he managed to get past the ban notice at the door, I give him a lot of credit and wish I got to meet the guy. Supposedly he's as awesome in real life as he is on WSO. If someone can vouch, I'd appreciate it.

Ant is a hell of a drunk and awesome to party with. The man's hysterical and definitely fun to chill with. I hope everyone there enjoyed chilling with him because he's a fun guy to hang out with. If you heard about my first run in with Ant, this wiped that entire memory out. I highly recommend anyone who can go out and party with the guy. When he wants to go out, he can be a little bit of a dick because I know a couple of people (Monty, Gekko) got texts trying to get them out to go rage. At the same time, he was definitely the life of the party later in the evening. He was definitely looking to party until 6AM. Hopefully he got his wish.

Finally, and this is a credit to the WSO/JDO Staff, I got to hang out with a few of the guys who work with Patrick and they are all nice people and they are all great to drink with. I hope everyone who met Andy and Co. had the same take away as I did. These are guys and girls are all cool as shit and fun to chill with. If any of the staff make it out to NYC again, or wherever I end up in this crazy world, you guys are always welcome to come drink with me.

All in all, there were no stories of drunken idiots, bear fights or the usual craziness we saw, but I think I saw a drunken hookup on the dance floor - I can't vouch whether it was in the WSO Group or not since it happened after 10:30 when the room opened up - which is as crazy as we got. After a long day like today, the after party was definitely a nice chill reprieve from a great day of networking, panels and discussions. If anyone else has musings and recollections to share, go ahead and post 'em. I hope I'm not the only one with good memories of this event.

Was great to meet everyone! I had a blast. Great conference, great after party, great after after party.

Thanks to Patrick, Andy, etc. for the event!

Sounds like a blast, and if anyone deserves having a good time, it's just about everyone you named (and you as well, of course). I'm hoping I'll be around for the next one and not sweating my ass off.

Excellent write up by Frieds. Had a great time hanging with all you freaks and finally meeting everyone in person. More thoughts when I'm back at an actual computer; typing on my iPhone is annoying (but sure beats a Blackberry, hint hint.)

En lieu of actual thoughts, I'd just like to do a few shoutouts: - to Patrick, Andy, staff and interns, for a fabulous conference; plus the panelists for some truly inspirational words that led to a personal case of career identity crisis (thanks a lot) - to the guys who were nothing short of cordial the entire weekend -- Human, Angus Macgyver, CompBanker, IlliniProgrammer, UFO, In the Flesh, Commuter, Nabooru (sexist jokes aside), Frieds, Ant (this guy's hilarious), etc. Was a pleasure to meet all of you in person and down some drinks, even if a certain someone didn't approve of my lameass cocktails. - to my fellow lovely ladies; none of you would give me usernames (or weren't from the site), but nice to see some classily-clad girls in the sea of Y chromosomes - to everyone whose real names I remember but either wouldn't give me their username ("Oh, I don't post much, just a lurker") or whose usernames I can't remember (mainly prospectives)... was great meeting you. Best of luck.

Again, no idea what you're talking about. Frieds and I will agree: alcohol is alcohol--it's all just medication.

Hey guys! Honestly, it was all a blur for me...I actually can't believe it is over, but it was amazing seeing the site fully materialize offline for once. I know we've had happy hours but when I walked into the afterparty and saw the packed room, it was awesome.

Looked like everyone had a great time. Thanks so much for taking the time out of your weekend and for some of you traveling from far far away. We had people fly in from the midwest, take buses from toronto, etc...I think the theme of the IMPORTANCE OF NETWORKING was obvious to the people that showed up - I've already heard from many of you saying that you made some great new contacts and new friends.

Stay tuned for some photos and video from WSO Con 2012, and an official announcement for WSO Con 2013 (hint hint: mark down Saturday, June 22, 2013 in your calendar!)

Overall, I think the panelists/speakers did an amazing job...we also learned some important lessons for next year to make it even better :-)

Wow! I can already buy tickets for next year?!?! How many of these are going to be available and are you fielding suggestions/ideas as well?

Here to learn and hopefully pass on some knowledge as well. SB if I helped.

You should ask the last white coats what happened to them when they came for me.

...oh wait, you can't.
