Advice on Where to live in London?
Not looking to spend much on rent for an ~20 min commute to near the City Thameslink station.
I don't mind sharing a flat/house.
I don't know much about the city.
Thanks beforehand!

Kentish town? It's on the thameslink route so would be 15mins on train. Coming up a lot now too, and close to Hampstead heath which is a real highlight of North London.
Nothing South of the river
Why not?
If you are looking to save a bit of money, Bethnal Green is a decent place with a fair few bankers living around. Short journey on the Central Line to St Pauls.
Thank you for your comments. I'm moving to London for appr. 3 months this summer for my summer analyst position. Do you have any advice on e.g. websites where I could find rooms / apartments for a shorter rental period? Preferably with convenient commuting to the banking office area.
rightmove, airbnb
An area to look at could be South Quay - should be reasonable commute via the DLR and quite well-situated near Canary Wharf which is safe and has bars and restaurants.
For summer rentals you might also look at student accommodation - there's some good options across the price range
