Advise me on this job position?

Background info: Junior at a semi-target, Economics major, bad GPA (~3.0), decent extracurriculars. Got interested in the field around December of last year (2010) and was too late to participate in any structured form of hiring.

I started cold-calling mostly IB and some PWM firms about a week and a half back. To date I've probably gone through 50 firms and gotten less than lukewarm responses from most of them. I thought I got a break when a extremely small boutique PWM firm's CEO asked me to come in for an interview.

That interview was today and went decently well. However, because it is such a small firm, there aren't really any structured roles and essentially he wants me to fill more of a marketing director position. IE not exactly cold-calling but finding events and such for potential investors. I hinted that I'd be more comfortable doing research and other related work but I wasn't too upfront about it because at this point I was in the "take-what-you-can-get" mode. He did mention that if things went well in the future I'd be able to move into research and other duties and whatnot.

What should I do? I still have a sizable list of boutique IB firms that I have yet to contact, but with my grades should I be holding out for an internship at one of the IB boutiques or should I settle and hope for the best? My main concern is that I won't be learning much of anything that I could use on my resume if I were to pursue a FO position in finance.

your an intern, most boutique's will not ask for a transcript from someone who is going in 3 months or less, do some inflation and keep calling..

its one way or the other: hate me or admire.
