Analyst with 5 YE. Started a new job at an AM and not getting interesting assignments.

Hi all. I hope this is the right place to seek some advice.

I started a new role in May as an Analyst at a private asset manager. While the job has been great in terms of infrastructure, employee safety, and compensation, I'm starting to feel a bit uncertain about the work I'm being assigned. So far, most of my tasks involve updating financials for portfolio companies and summarizing news—tasks that feel relatively trivial. Meanwhile, my peers—both Associates and fellow Analysts—are already being involved in deals and have end-to-end responsibility for delivering credit memos (investment proposals).

I’m trying to be patient and chalk this up to a training phase, but it’s hard not to compare myself to others. I'm wondering if I should bring this up to my boss and express how I’m feeling or just give it more time.

Is this typical in the early stages of a role like this, or has anyone else experienced something similar?
