Associate smells
I very recently joined as a FT and my associate smells really strong, like that of a care home, and I literally get PTSD after work thinking he has passed the smell to me.
I realized that he has the desks next to him (even opposite him) are free, and I was put in one.
Additionally, I don't really like him, and he seems to be trapped in a role he doesn't like.
Anyone ever been in a similar position and knows what to do?
I don't know him that well to tell him he smells.
Subtly put a febreeze or car air freshener on your desk
An Analyst on my team also smells. His BO becomes apparent in the afternoons.
Thankfully I don’t sit next to him so I can just not go over to his desk unless I need to.
Wtf. It should be socially acceptable to tell someone they fucking stink. Jesus Christ that shit is so annoying and disgusting. If it’s a one time thing fine but if it’s more than once then they should be held responsible to be an adult and take care of their cleanliness
Should be, but what would you do if the new analyst just tells you that when he hasn't even been working one month with you
If the new analyst says it he may be the only one with the balls to say it so I would ask someone else to see if it’s true and if it is then I would feel embarrassed but address it
Nah, this is assuming people act reasonably. I don't know if the risk is worth it
I had something like this. I know I’m clean and don’t smell but it’s a constant worry. I came across someone I worked with who generally smelled. At the end of work one day I pulled him to one side and said that he smelled. I was a little blunt but polite and as respectful as I could be. He was grateful, think he went to the doctor or changed the soap he was using because he doesn’t smell anymore.
I wouldn’t recommend this. He was a nice guy, little shy. I was just lucky he wasn’t annoyed. You could say something and he could take it really badly, he needs to hear it but there’s big chance he’ll be annoyed.
