Best level/position for networking?
Looking to network for some buyside research associate positions in the future. What position between associate, analyst, and PM would be be best in building out connections for a career move?
My thoughts are that Analyst would be best, followed by PM, and then associate. Is this a correct assumption?
It's more like whoever responds to your request for a chat. But generally, associate / analyst are more reachable. If you already work in buy side, you also might wanna tread carefully about reaching out to a lot of PMs because they might know your boss (incredibly small industry).
Yes, I guess it would be best to avoid a PM if you think they might have connections to current firm. However, wouldn't a PM that probably isn't too familiar with current firm be better than an associate? I can't imagine the associates get too much pull when it comes to bringing new people onboard, right?
