BlackRock AM

Hi,

I am meeting a global director of BlackRock, does anyone work there where they can shed some light on the culture, some history, what are some hot topics of discussion that's going around the grapevine..

I would appreciate it a ton, I'm trying to break into the industry.

BlackRock has emerged over the past 10 years to be one of the largest and most prestigious money managers. It's a giant company, so its hard to give you great insights into the work environment with out knowing what group you are specifically look into.

Two of the biggest historical events you should know about are: 2006 when they acquired Merrill Lynch's Asset Management businss, effectively doubling their size 2009 the purchase of Barclays IM business.

Notably, they are now also one of the largest managers of hedge funds. Here are some more details: http://www.hedgetracker.com/fund/BlackRock

Bottom line - great spot to start your career
