AMG has a very nice life style. They get off work by 6, and hardly work weekends (although I think its BlackRock policy that you work at least a little bit on Sundays for first few months) Pay is about 65k +15k stub or so first year, not sure how it progresses over time, but BlackRock has a very high retention rate. Main offices are in NYC, but they are trying to be a global company, so they may send you out to a different country for 6 months or so.

AMG does A LOT, so its hard for to give a good summary, but basically they act as a liason between the portfolio managers and clients. Some people will make presentations to try to get new clients, some will handle origination documents, others will liason portfolio performance, etc. If you do a good job you can definitely get into portfolio management after a few years, which is very lucrative.
