Business side or equity research?

Hi, I am new to the forum and the site but will cut to the chase:

-Am am currently working in product development of a pretty good Asset Management firm. I am on my third year in the position and was already promoted once, however without significant salary bump. I currently make 77k and considering switching to the investment side of the buy side (equity research). Do you think it would be possible to do that and what kind of salary + bonus I am looking at 1-2-3-5-10 years from now? Basically want to decide whether I am in the good spot or should I switch. Would appreciate your help!
