CFP Designation For Private Banking/Asset Management
Anyone able to speak on how useful or weighted this is for elite pwm/private banking jobs including the ones that involve the portfolio management side of things? is it only useful for the 'sales'? thanks
It's not helpful in getting a job in that space. I think I know one guy who has it out of a few hundred. To be fair, I wouldn't necessarily know if everyone had it, but only that one guy had it on his business card. He was a sales guy.
I am currently pursuing the CFP designation and here is my take on it is mainly designed for the relationship managers. The curriculum is focused on all aspects of financial planning, not just portfolio management, estate planning, insurance planning, etc. However I have found that many portfolio managers that run tax efficient portfolios have the CFP designation as that is one of the biggest focus of the designation. All in all, its not that difficult and and you can completely for around $2,000. So if you have the time and the money, i say it would be worthwhile to get it.
Curious as well....
