Desk Analyst vs. Research Analyst
How does the HY desk analyst role in a bank's markets division differ from a HY research analyst role in the AM division? I understand in the latter case, you are managing external capital and making recommendations to PMs, whereas in the former you are supporting traders. But what does that mean practically as far as how the day to day differs, overlap/difference in skill sets, career prospects, learning opportunity, etc.? Thanks in advance.
