Endowment / Foundation Case Study

Hi all, doing a case study for a foundation / endowment investment analyst role next week. Want to know a little more of what to expect - does anyone have any general advice or materials to share? Anything helps. For context, have done a few / am familiar with PE case studies, but know this will be different.

Thanks

Hey there! It sounds like you're gearing up for an exciting opportunity. Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are a few pointers that might help you prepare for your case study:

  1. Understand the Basics: Make sure you have a solid understanding of the Endowments & Foundations (E&F) industry. This includes knowing the purpose of E&Fs, their typical investment strategies, and the types of assets they invest in.

  2. Asset Allocation: E&Fs typically have a diverse portfolio that spans across various asset classes. You should be familiar with these asset classes and understand how to allocate assets effectively.

  3. Alternatives: A significant portion of E&F portfolios is often invested in alternative investments like Hedge Funds, Private Equity, and Venture Capital. Brush up on these areas, as they might come up in your case study.

  4. Skepticism: When it comes to asset allocation models, a healthy dose of skepticism is needed. These models are a great starting point for discussions, but they're not the be-all and end-all.

  5. Ask Questions: Don't be afraid to ask questions during your case study. This shows that you're eager to learn and can help you stand out.

Remember, every case study is different, so these are just general tips. Good luck with your case study, and don't forget to let us know how it goes!
