Financial Analyst within WM or full-time MBA

I currently work in wealth management at a mid-size firm in the Midwest. My work is mostly client service, but I have limited exposure to investment analysis.

I would like to transition into AM. As such, I've been networking, working toward CFA, and I'm also getting my MBA at a top 15-25 program on a part time basis.

At this point, I have an opportunity to take a position as a financial analyst at a different WM firm in the area. The work would be much more analytical/research oriented than what I am currently doing--closer to what I want--but it's still a far cry from actual equity/investment research.

Thus, I am wondering if I should accept the position and continue networking/working toward MBA/CFA... OR, if I should stay where I am with the plan of transferring into my university's full-time program in the Fall. My thinking is that transferring to full-time status would allow me much more time to network/work toward CFA, AND it would allow me to get a summer internship within AM or ER (hopefully).

In some ways my question is how valuable would an internship opportunity be for someone in a position like me? Worth noting is that I've been in my current role for about three years, and my undergraduate is NON-business related (hence the MBA, which I started last Fall).

Really appreciate any thoughts anyone has to share.
