financial operations associate
How would you describe working as a Financial Operations Associate for a large AM firm? AUM ~ $2b
You think this will give good experience? Is this a good starting point to work towards being an Analyst?

It's back office. You know this right?
Yeah I know it's BO, but it'll give good experience that I've worked at an AM firm, right? And what's the pay like? $60k reasonable?
^ Wrong
What do you mean, wrong?
Thank you, Boreed
You are most welcome, Anacott_CEO.
Just an FYI. 1st year FO IBD analysts at BB's get a 60-70k base. Ops would be no where near that. Think 40-50k.
This is NOT a job straight out of undergrad. I've previously worked in tech for 2 years and I have the relevant experience for the Financial Operations Associate position. With this new info, what's your take on the pay? In this department everybody has similar titles. Some have Operations Associate and some have Financial Operations Associate.
I know it doesn't really matter much but BB ops salaries are in the 55-65k range, while IB/S&T guys start at 65-75k. Obviously the biggest difference is in the bonus.
you mention Fin Ops "Associate", so do you mean this is not a job straight out of undergrad. Instead you are being hired for an associate role?

Well with 2 years exp assuming that you are in NYC and coming in as an Associate (not Analyst) I would expect 80k ish. Tech to ops is a fairly natural progression as the two departments work very closesly together.
I was previously working as a Business Analyst in tech (not related to IB). This position is in the West coast. Around $65k reasonable?
Trailmix already answered your question. Around 80k.
The fact that you're working at a large AM shop (which isn't even that large first of all), means jack shit. You will be in ops, so get over yourself and learn where you fall in the food chain (pretty fucking low). Unless of course BO is the career you want and it makes you happy, in which case carry on and good luck.
