First off, get a good GPA no matter what.

Well an internship is the next step, take a paid, unpaid - Asset management, PWM, IB, S&T, E&F, HF, PE, Consulting, etc. internship, just get one.

If you don't want to work in accounting I would avoid accounting jobs or internships (especially with an accounting degree).

Also, just shooting off the hip here, the MSF might not be needed

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a 3.78 gpa right now and I'm wondering what are your thoughts on why a MSF isn't necessary.

I'm also going to add that going directly into AM is tough. Are you thinking sales or investments? We're a household name and we don't even consider unskilled hires on the investments side of the house.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
