Getting into Asset Management
I am an accounting major and will graduate next year. I am planning on getting a Masters of Finance. I was wondering what is the best way to get into Asset Management?

Have you had any internships in the field?
I haven't yet. I'm currently trying to find internships for next summer though. I've applied to a few places.
First off, get a good GPA no matter what.
Well an internship is the next step, take a paid, unpaid - Asset management, PWM, IB, S&T, E&F, HF, PE, Consulting, etc. internship, just get one.
If you don't want to work in accounting I would avoid accounting jobs or internships (especially with an accounting degree).
Also, just shooting off the hip here, the MSF might not be needed
Thanks for the quick reply. I have a 3.78 gpa right now and I'm wondering what are your thoughts on why a MSF isn't necessary.
The return (assuming there even is one) does not justify the costs (time/money spent) in getting it.
I'm also going to add that going directly into AM is tough. Are you thinking sales or investments? We're a household name and we don't even consider unskilled hires on the investments side of the house.
