Google Asset Management

--tried to do a search but couldnt find much, so i apologize if posted before--

I was creepin around on the Google Jobs board and found something interesting. A post for a "Financial Analyst - Capital Investments Asset Management Team". I won't post the whole listing but it features excerpts such as the following:

"Google's Treasury team is on a mission to optimize the return on Google's financial assets. As a member of this team, you're always looking for innovative ways to help Google invest for the future while limiting volatility and material surprises. In addition to risk busting and asset management, you work collaboratively to administer business insurance programs and stock programs, and provide financial analysis support to our internal teams. You make creative yet calculated decisions that are backed by both experience and your extensive knowledge of the economy and financial industry."

"As an Asset Management Analyst, you will help manage Google's alternative investment portfolios, working cross functionally with origination, legal and finance teams. As a member of the Asset Management team, you will contribute to the continued success of Google's investment portfolio while helping to build the processes and systems to build a scalable Asset Management organization."

Sounds like your typical analyst/AM gig. But given the renowned Google work environment and campus, I was interested to hear if anyone had any insight into their AM division?

Side note - Was reading another job listing on Google's board that mentioned they were interesting in developing an investment strategy that some how incorporated all of the google search analytics and data as well as google maps information, etc... Sounds pretty interesting. With the sheer volume of information that they collect worldwide I bet someone would be able to form that into some sort of strategy in real time. How effective it would be is another question all in its own.
