Hired for Capital Markets Analyst at Nasdaq

Hello, I just graduated school this past summer and will be starting a Capital Markets Analyst position in NY in January covering the tech, media, telecom sector at Nasdaq. Some of the job duties include providing insight to a number of firms regarding their stock fluctuations/trading activity, and shareholder movements (trying to determine who is buying and selling). A lot of the client interactions are with C suite level or IR departments of companies (the clients are companies).

I was wondering what I can expect at a job like this? Also what kind of things I should read up on before starting and what skills I should brush up on? I don't believe this is a front office job correct? I'm not too sure if this falls under front office territory. The way this role generates revenue is that companies basically have to sign up for this service. If they are above a certain market cap and list on the NASDAQ, then they are provided this service for free for about a year, after that they have to pay. From my understanding, some pretty big firms are signed up for this. The manager of the specific sectors sometimes goes out to meet with potential clients and tries to get them to get on this service. One of the benefits this service provides is that it gives companies an understanding of who is buying and selling their stock so they have a better idea of who to target. I am hoping on getting your honest thoughts and opinions on this role and what it may allow me to do in the future. Would this give me some good exit ops down the line? There is a bit more to this job, I have given a very basic overview.

Thank you very much.
