How can I check what PMs have 'skin in the game'?

Hi WSO,

Is there a database or any easy way I can see if a fund manager has invested in their own fund?

I heard that morningstar released this kind of report, but I can't find the full list anywhere.

Any pointers are much appreciated.

"Yasuke" Yes. Find the SAI (Statement of Additional Information) of whichever fund you're curious about. The ranges given are pretty wide ... $10,000-50,000 , $100,000-500,000 and so on... but the SAI will list out Named PMs who are currently invested in the funds

The Data that Bloomberg scrapes from the regulatory filings (and to a lesser extent M*) is generally more up to date and accurate. It is HDS in Bloomberg, and "PM Ownership" in Direct's workspace. I don't think there is any free way of getting this level of data though unless you go on Edgar and read the 13Fs for yourself. (Don't do that, working at McDonald's is more rewarding)

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
