IB Analyst Looking to Pivot into AM

Hi all,

I am a current IB Analyst looking to pivot into AM after 1 year in banking. Have always been more interested in PWM long-term but ended up in banking right after school (internship --> FT return offer was hard to turn down with COVID...).

Long story short, I hate it and am looking to jump into PWM as an Analyst. I had a few questions:

  • Any general advice? Will large PWM shops hire someone 1 year our of banking (i.e. not the full 2-year IB analyst stint)?
  • Should I network or formally apply to jobs on company portals?

Really looking for some guidance because I am not sure how to navigate the process. Thanks in advance for the help!
