intern or summer school?

i'm a freshman and have verbally committed to interning at a BB in PWM (background check and whatever else in about a month) but it's unpaid and i will only be in the office for about 10 hours a week. so i'm thinking that it would be a better use of my time to take summer classes and have a part-time paid job instead. that way i'll get academic credit, a gpa boost (hopefully) and some money from whatever job i find. also, if i take the internship, i'll have to buy suits and all that stuff and spending money on a summer wardrobe just doesn't make sense to me when i'll essentially be working as a slave for 10 weeks. comments? thoughts?

Get a paid weekend job or night time job.

That.

If your a freshman, take the summer courses and save some cash. You got pwm as freshman you'll get one as sophmore (most likely). Unless you networked ass off to get it just do it next summer.

I don't see the issue with taking classes and interning at the same time if its 10hrs/week. On your resume, you are not going to say it was 10 hrs/week and it will still look good. If you still have time left over, then get a paid job somewhere. Seems like the opp cost of taking it is small, and it will look good for you for future recruiting. As for the wardrobe, you will need to get it sooner or later anyway..
