Is "Investment Operations" a glorified title for a grueling BO job?
I'll be graduating this fall and currently have one Financial Advisory position on lock but I'm wondering about Investment Operations. If we're talking about major AM firms such as BlackRock, Cambridge Associates, JPM AM, etc. are the Investment Operations positions going to be more involved in terms of actual investment and financial analysis? Or is "Investment Operations" just a fancy way to dress up a typical BO compliance job?
Do investment operations positions entail more investment management experience and greater exit ops than normal compliance/risk operations jobs would?
Ultimately, I'm wondering what I will be working toward if I decide to apply to Investment Operations jobs in AM. Particularly, the firm I have a FT offer from for Financial Advisory may allow me to make the move into Investment Operations. Would this be a more lucrative starting point for a finance career than plain old financial advisory?

All depends on what you would actually be doing... you need to get those details from the person you are interviewing with..not this forum.
A lot of the exit ops are going to depend on the employer name...most BO type work will all be grouped together and the only thing that will matter for exit opps in that regard is the firm you were working for.
