Is this LevFin or Portfolio Management?

I'm aware of what Leveraged Finance at Bulge Brackets banks consists of, but also have a friend at a well-known boutique bank who apparently works in LevFin too. However, his bank only purchases debt from these companies, rather than the structuring of said debt, etc. Its more of a portfolio management type role.

Now, I have come across this job and was wondering is this the same type of LevFin role? How is this type of role viewed on the street? Are there transferable skills? etc etc.

If I sound like a moron, apologies.

Here's the job description:

"The key responsibilities of the role will be focused at the European loan market with a focus on leveraged loans, unsecured and mezzanine transactions:-

• Assist Senior Investment Professionals in the evaluation of potential investment opportunities in the European region (and to a lesser extent internationally), across all sectors, by:

o Undertaking detailed fundamental research on target companies o Constructing detailed financial models and reaching conclusions o Undertaking financial statement and balance sheet analysis

• Support the fund’s portfolio managers in the selection of investments for our products and funds • Attend investee and potential investee company meetings with management and staff • Participate and support, when necessary, in investment committee meetings "

Sounds like you'd be an investment analyst at a HY and mezz shop. From the description, it seems like skills would be very transferable

Agreed. Sounds like a biz development company, probably doing PE sponsored investments.

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.
