no previous experience, trying to break in, advice needed
Hi all, I am trying to get into Asset Management at associate level. I am a MBA student graduating 2012. I am taking my CFA level I in June, and I have an internship coming up as an Equity Research Summer Associate at a BB in Hong Kong.
I have no relavent Asset Management experience other than that. (I have been working for the past 4 years in some unrelated industries, and it's not relavent) My question is, how can I break into Asset Management here in the USA? My b-school does not offer on campus recruiting either.
I feel the odds are stacked against me, but what are some of the ways I can go to make myself a competitive candidate.
Leverage that internship.
I understand that I need to show my internship as a big thing. However, how do I over come the barrier that there's not gonna be any on campus recruiting?
What kind of strategy should I approach? Do I look for big firms? boutiques? online apps kinda suck, but I guess that's the only way huh?
What, a b-school not offering OCR? Is this Keller School of Management, University of Phoenix?
