Pigeonholed in NMTC Space / Impact Investing

Good Morning,

I have been working for a CDE (Community Development Entity) in the NMTC (New Markets Tax Credit) space for a little over 4 months now as my first job out of Undergrad (non-target).   The deals we work on are multi-layered and mid-level for complexity.  I have gained some exposure to complex financial modeling as well.

I am growing concerned that the longer I stay in this niche business, the more pigeonholed I will become as far as external lateral opportunities are concerned.  I am also afraid that the skillset I am building in the Impact Investing / NMTC line of business won't be transferable to any other areas in Finance should I wish to make a change.

Would anyone be able to offer insight on this and if I should make the move out of the NMTC / Impact Investment space before it is too late?

Thank you
