Private banking analyst paths

Curious if anyone specifically at jpm pb or formerly there has any insight into the paths analysts typically take? I’ve heard for the most part becoming successful as a banker not knowing a lot of wealthy people is very hard, but I’ve also heard exit ops aren’t great from the pb. I’m having a hard time figuring out what happens to the analysts who don’t become successful bankers, is a MBA required or what exits have you guys seen? Also how is the internal mobility? Ie. moving from advisor analyst to investment specialist or moving to asset management possibly?

Terrible exit ops. Most people exit to another PB/PWM firm. I've seen some go to IR but that's about it. It is possible to move internally within PB, I have seen people go from investment specialist to banker etc. But again, it really is within PB. Maybe AM is also possible but it is definitely much rarer.

To your other question, no, you get fired if you don't make it as a banker. You have around 2 years to bring in new clients and build your book. If you don't, you're out.

Ok got it that’s what I had gathered, is the pressure the same on the investment specialist? I know they tend to have lower comp so is that a more secure role or however you want to phrase it?
