Private Banking Investment Counselor vs. Private Banker
Hi guys,
I will be doing internship with a Private Bank in this summer and was given a choice to choose between Investment Solutions team or Relationship Managers team.
From my understanding, investment solutions (investment counselors) are the product specialists that have in-depth understanding for certain product. They have to structure and price the product and execute trades etc. Generally, they do not meet clients face-to-face but more of answering their queries and placing trades for them over the phone.
While for Relationship Managers, it is pretty much managing relationship, acquiring clients, advising on clients' needs and expectation etc.
Feel free to correct me if my above understanding is inaccurate.
So i was wondering what are other differences in the above two roles (hours, exposure, future mobility & progression, salary)?
Assuming this is at Citi -- for the solutions side you're just going to be at HQ or are you at an office dealing with overall asset allocation ?
