Relationship with Manager at Asset Management Firm

Hi, I wanted to reach out to get some unbiased advice. I started at a large asset management firm in the Northeast around 3 years ago and I'm having a really hard time with my manager. I'm a hard worker, was candid about my lack of expertise in this specific niche field when I interviewed and I feel like I'm adding value to the team. I understand that I still have stuff to learn and I'm willing to put the time and effort into mastering this.

I've always tried to be a diligent worker- staying late, offering to complete extra projects, networking, etc. This is the first time I've ever experienced such outright disrespect from my manager (or really anyone that I've worked with), so I was hoping you'd be able to provide clarity into whether this is something that is typical in front office asset management or if its just my specific manager.

All of this really upsets me to the point where I have trouble sleeping at night . My question is this-- am I too sensitive to work in this type of role or is my manager an outlier? Any insights into this would be very much appreciated.

Sorry to hear that. Personally I didn't have similar experience. But I heard many stories about PMs being mean and rude to analysts. I guess like many other PMs, she was under tremendous pressure recently. Maybe she thought that she paid you so well so you had to put up with her temper. If you don't like her personality or the culture of your workplace, you should seriously think about changing jobs.
