Remote Analyst
I really like the work I do, and I actually enjoy coming into the office. My team is great and so far the pay is decent as well. The problem I have is that I really hate the wider area around my office. I can't see myself raising a family here and I can't wait to get away. This puts me into a difficult scenario because I don't want to give up the career that I have just to be able to move away, but at the same time I also know I won't be happy staying forever.
Do any of you work remotely, or perhaps know anyone that does? My main concern is getting the permission to work remotely, but also the implications for my career. Would a remote analyst have a much more difficult time becoming PM?
Sounds like T Rowe and Baltimore…
Not the best to answer but have heard it’s not impossible but challenging. I think it would be doable to go remote as an analyst but I think it’s a tall order to ask to go remote and then expect a promotion to PM in the near future. You probably need to prove that going remote has no negative implications on performance and politics/relations before they would be comfortable promoting you.
