Useful/ Relevant research topics in PE/WM

Hi everyone,

I am finishing up a full time MSc program in investment management and as usual have to complete a postgraduate dissertation, preferably with a quantitative aspect. I am interested primarily in going into private equity/VC or wealth management and really want to take advantage of this opportunity to research something that is forward-looking and would be of interest or use to an employer. My undergraduate degree in finance was very restrictive and only allowed us to research one of 6 topic titles that I would argue were outdated, uninteresting, highly saturated and borderline irrelevant, so I really would like to take advantage of this opportunity. I already have a few ideas

As professionals who work in the industry what topics/ areas would you say are relevant to your profession that would constitute research or further research? Or as someone in a senior position what kind of research direction would you like to see from someone at entry level?

All advice is welcome and appreciated, thank you so much in advance!
