Vanguard - Investment Management Group
Has anyone interviewed/worked at Vanguard in the past? What was the culture like? Despite its size, this forum doesn't seem to have many discussions on it.
I understand that Vanguard is primarily passive management (and the 1/3 of funds that are active are outsourced). I've always wanted to go into buy-side ER, and am wondering how much crossover (if any) there is between active management and indexing at the analyst level.
Thanks.
None. All fundamental equity is outsourced. In house it’s either index or quant (again, on the equity side). FI is a different story.
Culture wise — People are really that nice and friendly, and the firm has an almost non-profit feel to it with the focus on doing well for investors. The pay’s relative ass, but people seem happy/good work life balance.
