APD candidates in McK, Bain, BCG?
Anyone know anyone with an advance professional degree (MD, JD, PhD, etc) at MBB? It seems like those 3 are the only firms that actively hire APD candidates, and start them out at most-MBA associate level.
How many of these APD people are hired, usually? Once they are hired, are they exclusively assigned to projects that are related to their degree? Would there be opportunities to work in other industries?

There is a physics PhD from my school that is a managing partner at one of those firms.

All the strategy houses actively hire advance degree students. There are several PhDs in my class, but all starting at Entry/Analyst level.
PorcineAviation, What firm are you with? My buddies, who aren't at MBB, have also told me their firm takes professional degrees, but usually start them at the senior analyst position with a monitored fast track to associate.
Hard to give a total number of APDs hired, but at my university (top #3 in eng. and sci.) in 2009: - ~7 APDs went to McKinsey. - ~3 APDs went to BCG - 1 APD went to Bain
Most of them will be able to work in projects not related to their degree. APDs basically get the same generalist role as an MBA. However, in 2009 BCG focused on APDs with experience in life sciences, and it will be more likely for them to help with this kind of projects.
Most of the offers from MBB to APDs were for post-MBA associate level as you say. The only exception were international offices that gave analyst offers to APDs.

Do you know anything about MDs (doctors, not managing directors, haha), and how many of those they hire?
Yes, I do know one MD is starting with BCG this year. Also, ~30-50% of the people recruited by MBB have a medical sciences/biological sciences background because they want to grow their health care practices. As an MD, you definitely have a shot; just make sure you prepare for the interviews.
Do you actually know what you want to do or just looking at other high paying fields because you don't really want to be a doctor now that you are in med school? Just asking cause I see you posting asking pretty much the same thing, both in Finance and Consulting.
