CV SHREDDING - HELP

Hi!

I would like you guys help me tear apart my resume! I am mainly interested in a career within consulting but I haven't excluded other industries. Be as honest as possible: please focus on content, format, grammar etc. And also, since there is nothing I can do about my existing experiences, please focus on relevance etc. rather than personal achievements.

Cheers!

Here is some advice:

  • For GPA, put the one used in your country then the US equivalent in brackets next to it e.g if from the UK put 'Current Grade: Upper Second Class (3.3/4.0 GPA)' or whatever the conversion is

  • In the first professional experience try to summarise it down to 3 bullet points so put some things on the same line. In general for the professional experience part, quantify some things e.g. by how much did you minimise costs? how many investment offers were sent out? etc

  • Summarise the MBB EC even further. The country name is already on the right to no need to repeat it. Say like 'selected as one of 30 nationally'. Also the point about the consultants helping can be written as 'supervised by X consultants at the firm'. Clearer and simpler. Stick that in somewhere.

  • Same as above for the Entrepreneurship society. Quantify things, make 'numerous lectures' into XX lectures.

  • For skills and interests I personally put languages as follows: 'English (fluent), language 1 (fluent), language 2 (business proficient)...' etc but this could be formatting preference.

  • I'm assuming you can use word as well as the others so put 'Microsoft Office Suite' as it saves space and also mention (if you know how to use them) both Windows and Mac operating systems. If you have used certain stats programs before like STATA mention it under computer skills.

  • Interests should be just that so feel free to add more. Also (not necessary) put some sort of achievement to some e.g. if you won or finished a marathon for running write it. Also, quantify the countries. Not to show off but to show where you have been e.g. 'Travelling (XX countries across X continents)
