FTI Consulting interview process

I completed the video interview segment and have my first live-call interview this Monday. Center for Health Economics, if thats pertinent.

Anyone have any insight on the interview process? I wasn’t told if it would be a case, behaviourals etc but I am going to assume its a case?

Hey - not FTI, but I did a few interviews at A&M. The general format I've seen applied by A&M and most firms is:

  • HR Screen/Pre-recorded Video Screen/Resume Screen (whatever you want to call it)
  • Round 1 involving combination of behavioural questions with 2 case interviews generally including some form of market sizing or profitability
    • I had Market Sizing for the first case
    • Profitability through the lens of restructuring for the second
  • Round 2 involving behavioural questions with 2 case interviews generally more robust/with multiple sections
    • I had operations cost analysis in pharmaceuticals
    • Some market entry, can't recall the industry
  • Partner Chat involving some market sizing or factors question (~5-10 mins), but mostly on the fit aspect

The firms typically tailor the questions for the practice and sometimes tailor the cases as well. For A&M, I had restructuring cases, for Deloitte Finance & Performance, I had operational financial analysis, etc.

Hi there, thanks for the insights! How did you prepare for your restructuring case? Are there any cases online or in books?

I'd say there are a handful of turnaround & restructuring cases from the typical casebooks you can prep, but most times, the restructuring will just be the context to the situation. For instance, assessing the new market to penetrate into after the firm restructured or looking to restructure by assessing costs on a variable/fixed basis. There may also be some go-to-market analysis, or marketing piece to it (very common for the third phase of a robust case), but you'll find that the majority of the questions will follow the traditional case themes.

For anyone curious- int was 45 mins, I was asked about 4-5 easy behaviorals (walk me through your resume, tell me about a time you showed leadership, tell me more about experience X on your resume, etc) that took about 15-20 mins, and oddly enough the remainder of the 30 mins was for me to ask questions. No idea if this standard but luckily I had a lot of questions prepared. No case, moved forward to in-person superday 2 weeks after
