Hello, my name is Yanis

Hello, I am 19 years old at a top-5 European Business School. I would like to know what to read/do in order to start? I know that it is a really competitive field, so I would like to get a deep understanding of how the system works. However, I do not know where/how to start... Any suggestions from you?

A top 5 university will have a consulting club and events from consultancies on campus. These basic company presentations usually involve describing the work they do. Try to attend those to get an idea of how consulting "works" and what it implies. At 19 you still have plenty of time to get acquainted with the field.

Furthermore, have a look around this forum and read AMAs or some highly rated content, that might give you some additional info. Likewise, managementconsulted.com can offer some interesting resources from time to time.

Thank you for your reply :) I am part of the Consulting Academy which consists of 5 sessions with each session directed by companies (Delta Partners yesterday, McKinsey next week). I already enjoy doing the small "crack the case" question that we had to do in small groups. However, I feel like if I want to success I have to get knowledge that others do not have, I do not read at all and that's why I am asking for anything that might be interesting. That could be a book that you find great even if it is not directly related to consulting.

Thank you!
