How does Capital One business analyst interviews differ from more standard consulting?

I’ve heard the cases tend me be different- supposedly more straightforward?

I have seen it reccommended to make sure you’re skilled with breakeven analyses and NPV-are there any other skills to ensure you know that might not have practiced for standard MC?

When I interviewed they had 2 interviews: a quant interview and a product interview. Capital One quant is real quant, not consulting napkin maths. They let you use calculators and one of my problems was to solve a multiple linear equation on credit card spend. Another question was to interpret a statistical regression on a bunch of data points and questions about mathematical relationships between variables. For the product interview I had a brainteaser exercise on how I would improve a random product "give me as many ideas as you can for how to improve an umbrella" and then more conceptual questions about how you test for demand for certain products in the marketplace, what questions to ask, how to gather data like web clicks for improving online banking UX, etc. So both interviews have elements of a standard consulting case interview with a bit of tech and quant twist.

Very helpful, thank you! For the quant- would you say it focused on specific field of mathmatics eg more statistics or calc based? Or even what "level" of math (high school, etc)? Personally, my major is very stats based but absolutely no calculus so just trying to determine what concepts to review. Sounds like the product aspect measures more creativity than actual technical/industry knowledge? Or no?
