How to Increase my marketability and skills post graduation

I recently graduated from a very good school, consistently ranking top 25 in the U.S. I did not have that great of a GPA and majored in Economics, although investments and equity research have always been something I am passionate about and interested in. I recently took a full time job as a financial analyst but it's proving to be more accounting work than analytical analysis. I applied to hundreds of jobs and for all of the "top-tier" companies I was either rejected much later or never responded to at all. My GPA was nothing special and not very good at right around a 3.0. I want to know what I can do to land a position in the investment analysis and banking markets. Do prep courses such as Wall Street Prep and Training the Street help people in my position? If so which is the right one for me? I have also considered starting the CFA journey and passing level 1, if it will help my overall goals.  I would love to hear from people in the industry if any of these things can help me to strengthen my resume and teach me valuable skills that I will apply in my future endeavors.
