Investment internship and its value when pursuing consulting
Hello,
I'll be doing the LSE MSc International Political Economy, starting in September 2021. I have an offer to intern at a local bank in the Middle East for an investment analyst role under private banking. Assets under management are around $100-150mn. The bank is well-known locally, and is active on the regional level (2-3 countries). I can also continue with the internship part-time remotely while in London (with a very flexible ending period, possibly making the internship last up to 12 months).
How valuable would this experience be in eventually securing a role as a business analyst/consultant? I would also be interested in corporate development or other management roles in large organizations. I don't think I would pursue IB or another similar finance track. I understand that private banking is not exactly very related to the field I want to enter later, and hence I'd assume that an internship in this area might not help me too much. What do you think?
