u could get a major in flower decorating at a top school and i think you'd be okay (if this is from a non target, its probably better to have a strong major though)
need great gpa + internships + leadership + networking
in all seriousness, i think micro/macro econ is probably good for the cases, but its honestly not needed- it might even be nice that you have a different view coming as a poli sci major
