Marketing Major in Consulting? WTF?

These forums really drill "finance" (especially banking at a BB) as the main pipeline into consulting. But it's mainly to show that you can handle the hours for consulting.

Well, i'm doing 40 hours a week at a research firm in New York as a sophomore...

Yes, a Marketing major but in the honors college with a 3.7gpa (top 10 B-school)

And apparently there's a lot of PowerPoint and graph/chart making in consulting...which is my area of expertise since that was all I did in a past internship.

...I also have a fair amount of knowledge with excel. Maybe not finance formulas like WACC, but Vlookups with Match and Hlookups as criteria advanced enough.

So, what I mean to say is...considering my past experiences with these skill sets...

...am I still going to get auto-shut down for being a Marketing major? It seems that the skillsets I have are aligned with Management Consulting, but it's just that I really, really disdain finance. Whachya guys think? Am I damned to HR consulting?
