MBB from HLS?

Considering going to Harvard Law School, but fairly sure I don't really want to work in law. I know McKinsey hires out of there, but is anyone aware of how the process works, e.g. how important grades are once there, if there is a hard cap on # of those they will hire from law school, etc? I figure attending will make me a more competitive applicant than right now, and adding Harvard to my resume can't hurt.

Thanks!

Wouldn't recommend coming in with that MBB as a hard goal. McK usually take 3-5 each year for both Summer and Full-time. BCG usually takes 0-2 each year for both Summer and Full-time. Bain essentially doesn't hire (resume drop). In all cases it is overrepresented with people with either/both previous business experience or JD/MBA dual degree enrollment. For just a general JD with no prior experience and no dual enrollment, chances are pretty low.

Perhaps, but I'd like to get out of work soon, already have admission, etc... I'm fairly set on going, I was just curious what happens once I'm there.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the other view point and how much more logically sound it is, I just really want to leave my job and I know I can't get an MBB type right now.

I'm not extraordinarily well versed on the subject, but I would assume with your prior work experience that you would be a competitive candidate. I would suggest going to HLS, but if you go, make sure you network like crazy and hold onto your contacts from your current job that are in consulting.

Well, you'll spend 3 years earning a professional credential you don't plan to use and learning about something that has limited economic value outside of that professional context, while spending a couple of hundred thousand dollars. Personally, I think you're insane to go to law school if you don't want to be a lawyer (unless someone else is paying for it).
