MBB London Current Situation

Hi, I have several questions regarding the consulting industry and MBB in London.

1. How is the current project pipeline in MBB London

2. How thick is the bench right now

3. Is there a change in the types of projects since PE deals are slowing down (especially for PE houses like EYP, Bain, LEK)

4. Did any of the MBB lower their fees in order to compete for projects

Thanks for you insights.

Happy to answer for Bain

  1. Project pipeline in London
    • Better than last year, certainly. Pretty full in PEG, actually
  2. Bench / beach
    • Have seen worse, but still some people on the beach here
    • Caveat that many people are on LOA / Externships / exchanges, so this has an impact obviously
  3. Change in the types of projects due to PE slow down
    • Not really, actually seeing a lot of DDs
  4. Fee drop to attract business
    • No more than we typically do when trying to win new clients, as far as I know (but obviously I dont draw contracts, but my point is I've not seen / heard it)
    • Clients seem to manage it via shorter projects / smaller teams instead
    • We're doing fees-at-risk also, so that's something to take into account
