MBB (Undergrad) Recruitment Process
Hi folks, I'm currently an undergraduate student graduating May 2024.
How does the recruitment process look like for MBB?
R1 -> R2 -> offer?
How long are the rounds, and what are their components?
Thank you.

Following
Bain:
R1 - 2 cases with junior consultants, no behaviorals
R2 - 2 cases with partners, no behaviorals
BCG
R1 - 1 timed online case, 1 behavioral with a junior consultant
R2 - 2 cases with partners, a few behavioral questions in each
This was all for last recruitment cycle. I didn't interview with McKinsey so I can't help you on that one.
Hi I’m also a rising senior interested in only these two firms, would you mind PMing to discuss a bit more? Thank you!
I would just note that for Bain, the 2nd round varies office to office. For example, Atlanta does 2 partner cases, half case half behavioral, for the 2nd round. SF does 3 interviews with a mix of partners and senior managers, and one of them usually involves reading graphs from presented slides.
No behaviorals at Bain? Strange.
How long are these rounds?
Bain:
Each case in R1 takes around 30 minutes, but its definitely possible to finish in 20-25. Each R2 case takes as long as the partner wants it to, but you have an hour long time slot so thats the maximum.
BCG:
R1 case takes about 30 mins and IS TIMED, but there are some ways to work around the time. The behavioral is 30 min as well. R2 case takes 45 min - 1 hour, again really at the partner's discretion.
Note that both of these processes were for Northeast US offices
I only applied/interviewed for Bain and BCG last year and ymmv based on office so keep in mind it might not be exactly the same.
Bain:
R1 - 2 cases with consultants, no behavioral questions but did mention stuff on resume in passing during intros
R2 - 3 cases with partners, some behavioral mixed in with each
BCG:
R1 - online timed case and behavioral with a PL
R2 - 2 cases with AP/partners, some behavioral in each as well
Both had quick turnarounds and called to deliver outcomes.
30 minutes each case?
What level difficulty were the cases?
If possible I'd like to privately message you. Thank you.
.
I can confirm the Bain/BCG processes other commenters mentioned. For McK:
R1 - 1 interview with EM, PEI + Case
R2 - 3 interviews with EM to Partner, PEI + Case
Both of my McK interviews were all 4 in one day
I heard that was the case for my friends who were experienced hires trying to lateral over, but I would be surprised if they gave undergraduates applying for FT roles 4 interviews in Round 1.
Do you have any insight into when these interviews were? Gonna be in banking and not sure how to carve the time out if it’s during my internship
