MiM for Consulting
Hi everyone,
What are the bests universities to do a MiM to get a MBB job in London?
St.Gallen MiM is top 1 worldwide (FT) but I don’t really think it is better than a HEC, INSEAD, LBS or LSE actually.
Like if you would like to get that McKinsey job in London, what top 3 MiM would you be applying for?
For landing an MBB job in London, the most helpful WSO content suggests focusing on universities with strong consulting placement records and robust alumni networks in the UK. Based on insights from previous WSO threads:
London Business School (LBS) MiM: LBS is highly regarded for consulting placements in London. Its location in the city provides unparalleled networking opportunities with top consulting firms, including MBB.
HEC Paris MiM: HEC has a strong reputation in Europe and consistently places graduates into MBB roles. Its alumni network and career services are well-connected to consulting firms in London.
INSEAD MiM: While relatively new, INSEAD's MiM program benefits from the school's established reputation in consulting and its strong ties to MBB firms, particularly in Europe.
Other notable mentions include LSE Global MiM, which offers a two-year program with a global perspective, and St. Gallen MiM, which is highly ranked but may not have the same direct London consulting focus as the others.
If your goal is McKinsey in London, prioritizing LBS, HEC, and INSEAD would be a strategic choice.

MiM doesn't offer a direct pipeline to consulting like top undergrad (Oxford PPE, maths, LSE economics) or mba programs do. If anything it's just an additional year or two for recruitment.
If you do BBA for instance in your undergrad at a semi/non target, and then MiM, then you won't be magically attractive for MBB, that too in London.
LBS and LSE MIM/GMIM has the strongest pipeline for London MBB, for a long time LBS was placing better than LSE but ever since they made their cohorts bigger they have a more even recruiting trend. Other than these INSEAD MIM has the best track-record for placing into MBB while HEC, ESCP are all good choices. Bocconi's International Management MSc program is strong too, on average I'd put it slightly higher than the HSG MIM for London but the HSG program is the golden standard for DACH MBB alongside WHU and Mannheim.
