Off-cycle hiring

If I'm not going through OCR, what is the best time to apply? Also, does anyone who is currently working know if specific firms will be hiring this year or have interest in interviewing candidates off of the typical cycle in general? Thanks!

I am also deciding whether I should time my graduation to fall in line with the recruiting cycle in Fall for major consulting firms. My school is non-target and the program is part-time MBA. Does "being in a school" matter when applying for strategy firms or would it be OK to graduate the term before and then apply? Which one is recommended for someone who has a background in tech consulting and looking to break into strategy?

Networking and being ready for interviews with relevant knowledge is the only thing you can do.

I would say if there would be one spot within the industry that may behiring it would be smaller no-name boutiques. Obviously some more reputable than others, but I would contact these boutiques and ask if they are either looking for an entry level analyst, or if your willing, an intern. Anything is good to gain experience / have a spot until your next position.

While it's expected that you aim high for the larger banks, the truth is that lateral/off-cycle hires in this environment are rare and on a case by case basis.
