Pissed at McK BA Recruiting

So I go to a school in the Midwest with some pretty decent representation at McK. I made sure to network with a lot of BAs and even got a referral from a engagement manager. I also got 9th decile in Solve (10% of people did better than me), so I thought I would at least get a first round. I then get the email that I've been downright rejected. I don't know what I did wrong because if it was my resume, or maybe SAT score from high school I feel like I would have been rejected in the resume screen. What could have gone wrong?

So it’s a sub 1% acceptance rate. Less than 5% receive an interview. I’m not sure why you are shocked? No one is entitled an interview unless your resume is truly amazing

I’ve seen students with great GPAs get rejected because they weren’t doing enough on campus

For next cycle, try to land 1 or 2 leadership positions in professional development clubs on campus

Also coffee chatting with BAs does nothing, you should make sure the recruiters know who you are (e.g., attend recruiting office hours)

Thanks man, I am the president of a equity research club, and a senior consultant in our schools consulting org. I also did network with recruiters, I also have an internship this summer at a F500 company, what else would you suggest I do?

Honestly just try again, they’ll favor your resume if you’re a repeat applicant and were close to the cut line in previous years

if you're school in the midwest is IU then not suprised

if it's umich/uch/nw/notre dame then tough luck. it might just be your resume, get some more leadership experiences, do cool shit this summer. 99% of it is the resume
