PwC—-> MBB thoughts

Hello all, im a non target junior who will be at PwC nyc or Boston this summer (still talking with recruiter with office I want to go to, but I have option for either, will probably take nyc) doing business process consulting.

PwC is great and all, but I wanted to ask wso what are my chances to convert this PwC internship into a full time offer at MBB, I have 3.8 gpa, leadership experience sort of (treasurer of a fraternity) , and lots of internship experience, (commercial banking, then investment banking, and then now this summer PwC).

Also wanted to ask what steps I can take now to put myself in the best position to get into MBB, thanks

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights and steps you can take to position yourself for a full-time offer at MBB (McKinsey, BCG, Bain) after your PwC internship:

Chances of Converting PwC Internship to MBB Full-Time Offer:

  • Academic Performance: Your 3.8 GPA is strong and aligns well with MBB's academic expectations.
  • Leadership Experience: Being the treasurer of a fraternity demonstrates leadership, which is valued by MBB.
  • Relevant Experience: Your diverse internship background in commercial banking, investment banking, and now business process consulting at PwC is impressive and shows a well-rounded skill set.

Steps to Position Yourself for MBB:

  1. Networking:

    • Start connecting with MBB alumni from your school. Building relationships early can provide insights and potential referrals.
    • Attend MBB networking events and information sessions to get on their radar.
  2. Skill Development:

    • Focus on developing core consulting skills during your PwC internship, such as problem-solving, analytical thinking, and client management.
    • Seek feedback and demonstrate coachability, as consulting firms value candidates who can learn and grow from feedback.
  3. Case Preparation:

    • Begin preparing for case interviews, which are a critical part of the MBB recruitment process. Utilize resources like case books and practice with peers or mentors.
  4. Leverage PwC Experience:

    • Make the most of your PwC internship by taking on challenging projects and seeking opportunities to lead.
    • Build strong relationships with your PwC colleagues and supervisors, as their recommendations can be valuable.
  5. Application Strategy:

    • Tailor your resume and cover letter to highlight your consulting-relevant experiences and achievements.
    • Apply early and ensure your application materials are polished and error-free.

By following these steps, you can enhance your chances of transitioning from a PwC internship to a full-time role at MBB. Good luck!
