Advice for a chimp

All,

I am a recent graduate from a non-target in Finance and Economics and am currently in the first round of my finance development program. My post is pretty general, but being as I am new to the site I definitely want to take advantage of the knowledge and experience that exists here. In general, what advice would any of you have for a first year FDP? Or, just someone beginning their career in finance/investments in general? I will have an Investments Controllership round, FP&A round, and then an Investments/Asset Management round with the goal of landing a full-time position in front office Investments/Asset Management with the company (or perhaps another company?). I am book smart strong, but my communication, networking, and technical skills (i.e. Excel) could be better. Advice on most important excel skills (specific to FP&A and Asset Management)? Advice on dealing with and communicating with colleagues and higher ups (i.e. learning quickly, delivering results and value, proving myself credible)? Advice on best leveraging my opportunity in general? ANY advice/insight would really be appreciated. In sum, I am pretty driven, pretty smart (so smart that I realize that I basically know little to nothing at this point), and am really just excited to maximize my opportunity. Thanks for the feedback in advance.
